We enjoyed the company of a Boobook owl for a few nights last week,. He sat in the tree in our front yard and made his customary "Boo- book" call for most of the night. Don't know where he was during the day, though.
We were sorry to see that he had gone, but hope he's getting plenty of food somewhere else.

Hi, Linda
A Boobook owl has been living in my backyard for the past month or so. It shifts trees when the Noisy Miners get too obnoxious but it seems to be persisting despite the aggravation. I hope it stays, it's lovely to see an owl at close quarters. Those Noisy Miners chased a gentle Crested Hawk away very quickly but I have to admit they also alert me to the presence of snakes. My yard is practically bush but many trees are suffering from the dry conditions.
