Day Trips!

Last Sunday, I went to Aunties 80th. Birthday Party, "Australia All Over" was being broadcast from Rain Forest Park at South Bank Brisbane. I thought I might have seen some of you there. I had some of Aunties Birthday cake, bought Macca's Top 100  5 pack CD set and got him to autograph it for me, then I checked out all the stalls at the Market there, had lunch & went for a ride on a River Cat, it was a beautiful day in more ways than one!

Cheers, OME.

Long Weekend 10,11 & 12 August 2012

A good weekend is coming up at QSMEE, it is their Track & Tent Weekend, when people with ride on locomotives decend on Brisbane for a great weekend of running Trains. I am taking the Motorhome to this event. My better half will be well on her way to Canada to see her grandchildren.

If you want to know more about this event Google QSMEE.    Enjoy OME

Last Weekend 21/7 & 22/7/12

I had 2 good Day Trips. Saturday I went to the Australian Model Railway Association Open Day, at Zillmere, this is a good day out, but it won't be on again until this time next year. I picked up some good second hand bargains and took some great photos. I love taking pictures of trains.

On Sunday we went to the Food & Wine Festival at South Bank, this was good too; but I don't think it is on again until next year. Enjoying Brisbane, OME.

RACQ Motorfest & Race Coarse Markets

Today Sunday 15th. July, I jumped on the motor scooter & went to the Motorfest, no parking problems even though the car park was full, I could park close to the entrance. It was another great day, I didn't know it was so big. A marvellous display of old cars & a huge Market. I went mad with the camera, I really enjoyed myself.    OME

Really Enjoyable

What a beautiful day you had. Before a couple of days I was pretty busy because I had IELTS exam . Unfortunately, I did badly espacially in Speaking test. Would you mind to help me to improve my English more better.Really I am very depressed . However, I am very happy to have a chat with you OldManEmu.

Cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeers,

English is a funny Language, I speak Australian!

G'day Omer, your sentence "Would you mind to help me to improve my English more better."  It does not sound quite right, I know what you mean, but it would sound better if you said,"Would you mind helping me improve my English." I think you are adding too many words.

Don't get too depressed, life is too short to be depressed.

I put a message on your "Talk about Me" page, please check it out.

With your English, keep it short and to the point. Cheers, OME

Cheers

Thanks so much for cheering me up. Please keep learning me I want to speak fluentely. Give me  everyday exercises to help me to speak , write and anything  .

 Thanks again

English as a Second Language

Good on you for persisting with learning English as a Second Language. Being in Australia, you are in the best position to learn it by being immersed in it. When I first learnt English, I was not in an English-speaking country. I did, however, have native speakers as teachers, which is important for acquiring intonation and pronunciation.

If you feel depressed, then that is understandable because you get frustrated when you think that you are not making progress. However, you will absorb the language the longer you live here and continue to use it. I call that the osmotic effect.

Finally, about the Proficiency Test. You don't want to get too discouraged by it. I know the test, (I am a retired ESL teacher)and you do need to be at a high level of proficiency to do well in it. You can always sit it again, but wait until you feel comfortable in Listening, Reading, Speaking and Writing before you make another attempt at it.

Good luck.

You speed reader you!

I know you probably missed it but Omer is in the Sudan. If you get the time, read his interesting post on the pyramids at Shendi. He hasn't been online for a couple of days though.

I'll help too

Your above sentence should read - Please keep teaching me, I want to speak fluently.

Thanks luckysue!

We could all do with a bit of help. My spelling is poor & over the years, I've got into some bad habits with my English.     Cheers, OME

?

Um! I think we are all trying to help Omer aren't we? I wouldn't presume to try and correct anyone who's first language is English. I really like the way Omer has asked for your help and I just hope I'm not butting in.

The Challenge is to Big!

Am I seeing things, or has GOT got spell check???

I think this job is too big for me, I welcome any assistance!            OME

P.S. I suggest we go to General and continue the Lessons under ENGLISH.

Go for it

Good idea OME. Head Omer in the right direction

Day Trips W'end. 7th. & 8th.

What a great W'end, Sat. 7th. I went on a Garden Railway visit, I will have to put a picture on GOT just to do it justice, definitely the best Garden R'way I have seen in Brisbane.

Sunday I went to QSMEE (Queensland Model Engineers).  It was a Club Day, you could ride the small trains there all day, a wonderful set up over quite a few acres.

I enjoy the weekends here in Brisbane, there is always a Day Trip to go on!

Enjoy your Day Trips, OME

Thanks

Thanks very much.

Please tell what is the  most enjoyable trip you have done in your life?

Cheeeeeers,

My Most Enjoyable Trip!

I went overseas a few years ago (I could write a book about this!), visited friends in England & we did trips around UK together. Wales was spectacular & I loved riding all of those little Narrow Gauge Railways, they have over there. From there I flew to Germany & visited my Pen Friend I have been writing to for well over 30 years. I would have liked more time there.   Cheers, OME

Travel to countryside.

Hi,

I am from Sudan. Before a couple of days I travelled to Shandi town. It is in north of Sudan about 175 km from Khartoum which is capital city of Sudan. Northen of this town there are pyramids which are the oldest than pyramids in Egypt as heard from people  but I have to make sure of this info from archeologists. Unfortunately I have not seen  them yet because I got there for interview of job i.e the job is in Shendi far from pyramids. Shendi town is very exciting and attractive . It is famous for farmlands in which  mango and gavos are grown.

After next month I will go and work there in Unversity Of Shendi. Of course , when I see the pyramids I will tell you more about them.

(Please correct me if I have made mistakes because I have been learnig English  )

  Thanks.

Omer

Ancient Buildings

G'day Omer,

We haven't got too many ancient buildings in Aus. We haven't been here long enough. My home town is on Phillip Island. There is a very small island attached to Phillip Island by a one lane bridge called Churchill Island, this is were the first wheat in Australia was grown. Worth a visit!

Cheers, OME

Southbank

If you are talking Sunday 24th June - we were there on Southbank. We attended a lunchtime concert at QPAC. We had strolled around the markets earlier, had a late breakfast at Poppies then went along the riverwalk to the Concert Hall. It is a lovely spot, particularly at this time of the year - not too hot for a decent stroll. Maybe we did pass each other's groups.

Southbank

No LS, it was the 1st.July, so we missed each other, Brisbane is a great spot in Winter!

Cheers, OME

Macca

We were listening to Macca on the ABC. It sounded like a good day. South bank is a lovely place. We've run into him from tme to time at ABC bookshops and had a chat. He's a nice bloke, and always reminds me of my teenage years because he played in Col Joye's band the Joye Boys. I wasn't a screaming teenage fan, but the association is there.

Great Day Out!

It was a great day out, I took lot of photos & I am about to down load some of Maccas Top 100 onto Itunes, so as I can listen to them on the Ipod. I have already put some on fb so as the Family can see what I'm up to!

Cheers, OME
