Advanced Guide - Effectively sending photos via Email (submitted by Rhys Davis)
If you want to send out photos by email I recommend you optimize them for web. This reduces the file size from 1.5mb down to about 50-60kb. You can then email 10-12 photos instead of 2 or 3, and they will send much faster.
There is a free optimizer available at www.imageoptimizer.net
1. Set the quality to 'Small File Size'.
2. Set the max width and height. 600 width x 450 height is a good starting point for landscape photos (and the opposite – 450w x 600h for portrait photos.)
If the optimized photo looks too blocky for you, adjust the quality settings slightly. Try again with 'normal' or 'high' settings. Remember you want to keep the file size low, and increasing quality will also increase the file size. So find a middle ground you're happy with.
