5 How do I post a comment in a forum?

To get to the forums, click on the 'Talk about... Topics' button on the menu (right hand side of each page). Once the page has loaded, you will see some information at the top of the page, and then a number of different forum categories: Introduce Yourself, Computers, etc. Each has a short description under the title.

Next to each Forum category, you will see how many different Topics are in it, how many posts, who wrote the last post, and when. To get to the Topic List, click on the forum category title (ie. Computers). You'll notice that it's in blue - basically, anything you see in blue is a link, which means if you click on it, it will take you to a different page.

Once you've clicked on the title, you are taken to the Topic List page. This displays the names of the Topics, how many posts are in each, who created the topic (and when), who wrote the last reply, and when. Click on the name of the Topic you want, and read through the comments.

You now have two options to 'post' your comment. The first is writing a new post. To do this, scroll down to the bottom of the page, and you'll see "Post new comment" with your name inserted, and then fields for you to fill in a title, and the comment you wish to write. When you have finished, click on 'Post', at the bottom, left hand side. Your post will appear at the top of the page, above all the others, and immediately underneath the 'introductory paragraph'.

The second option in writing a post is doing a direct reply to someone else's comment. To do this, click on the 'reply' link for that particular comment. That comment will then open in a new window, with space underneath it for you to write your reply. Again, you can write in a title, then the comment. When you have finished, click on 'Post', at the bottom, left hand side. Your post will appear immediately underneath the comment you have replied to.
