The short version: GoodOldTalk only stores what it needs to sign you in, run rooms, and keep the community safe. Optional analytics and marketing cookies are off unless you allow them. Your profile photo is private and is removed when you delete your account.
This Cookie & Data Policy explains what information GoodOldTalk stores on your device and in your account, why we store it, and the choices you have. It sits alongside our User Policy & Terms, which covers community rules.
These are required for GoodOldTalk to work and cannot be turned off. (a) Authentication token — keeps you signed in between pages and visits; cleared when you log out. (b) Cookie consent choice — a single entry in your browser's local storage that remembers whether you allowed optional cookies, so we don't ask you again. Kept for up to 12 months.
Off by default. If you allow them, we collect anonymous, aggregated usage statistics — which screens are opened, how long sessions run, rough error rates — to understand what works and improve GoodOldTalk. No personal identifiers are sent with these.
Off by default. If you allow them, they help us measure and improve how we present GoodOldTalk to people who might enjoy it, so we spend less and reach more of the right people. They never track you across other websites.
Email — to sign you in and verify you're 18+. Full name and profile photo — so other members can see who they're talking to in a room. Sessions and bookings — the rooms you host or join, so we can show them in 'My Sessions' and manage seats. Reports — anything you report, so our team can review it and keep the community safe.
Your profile photo is stored privately — there is no public URL for it. It is only shown inside GoodOldTalk through a short-lived, signed link, and access follows your account. When you delete your account, your photo and the access to it are removed.
We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account at any time from My Profile — this permanently removes your profile, name, photo reference, sessions you host, and bookings, and signs you out. Reports may be retained for longer where needed for safety or legal reasons.
When you first open GoodOldTalk you can choose Allow all, Necessary only, or Manage preferences to decide per category. To change your mind later, clear GoodOldTalk's site data in your browser and the banner will reappear.
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version is always the one published here. Continuing to use GoodOldTalk after a change means you accept the updated policy.
